Lifecasting rooms.

Our gallery and lifecasting rooms reside in a grade II listed building originally built as an arts theatre.
We have a fastcast room available for those visiting the area and wishing to be cast during their visit. It is best to book an appointment, but not always neccessary.
The bodycast room is set in a private room at the rear of the gallery, and is a comfortable private room with music and light, heating equipment and a bathroom.

We would advise that you wear loose older style clothing for you lifecast appointment as lifecasting is an artform, and can be a little messy, however, Michelle is an expert and will keep you as clean as she possibly can, it is usualy the lifecaster herself who ends up messy, not the client!

Frequently asked questions about casting.

I would like to have my childs hands and feet cast, how long will it take?
Babies hands/feet take around 1 minute to cast.

Do they have to be asleep? How can they keep still?
The mould used is a liquid flexible mould and Michelle has plenty of experience casting children and babies alike, children do move, babies do wriggle, and sometimes they cry. A mother with two children, she is prepared for most circumstances. Bring along an assistant with you if you like, a grandparent, a father, a family friend, they can help!

I would like a bodycast taken, how long will this take?
Around 25 minutes, and you will only be visible for one minute before you are covered. Michelle has plenty of experience in bodycasting and is very sensitive to the female and male body, and your feelings.

Are the materials used safe to the skin?
Michelle is a professional caster, and ensures that all vendors of the products used are safe companies. There is no plaster to skin contact, and the materials used are made from a seaweed based compound that is edible, not that you'd want to eat it!
There is also model release forms available, and a brief health and safety statement that is provided by Michelle before your cast to ensure there are no problems.

What are the lifecasts made from?
Michelle uses gypsum and paints from stately homes to ensure longevity of your casting. This ensures a professional finish and also can ensure a variety of colour solutions for your cast, such as pewter, silver, bronze, chrome, gold, antique white, grecian gold, verdigris and further options.
Should you wish to have your cast in resin, this is also possible. we will discuss all options at your casting appointment.
As Michelle is also a professional artist, she can handembellish any artwork upon your casting. See our lifecasting galleries for more options.

I am so pleased with our cast, its a memory to treasure, especially as we have twins, and have fought so hard for them.

I could not believe that the operation had been so successful, now I am a work of art! I want to show my breasts to everyone.

I have used Michelle on many occasions to record the years of our child growing older. I am always pleased with her patience, and friendliness.
